Grand Portico Ceiling Transformation

From Plain Plywood to Richly Stained Beadboard

This project involved a complete transformation of the ceiling on a grand, curved portico, significantly enhancing the home’s curb appeal. The original, unfinished plywood ceiling was detracting from the stately character of the classic brick colonial facade. We replaced it with traditional, high-quality beadboard, a material that is both historically appropriate and adds timeless texture and charm. 

The most dramatic element of the upgrade is the sophisticated finish. The new beadboard was treated with a deep, rich, dark stain, creating a stunning and elegant contrast with the home’s crisp white fluted columns and trim. This bold choice adds a dramatic layer of depth and luxury to the entryway, resulting in a beautifully finished porch that now fully complements the home’s grand architecture.
